  • What is included in the A1 German test course?

    Level A1 is the easiest and first level for newcomers to German with no previous knowledge and provides an important basis for anyone who wants to learn German.

    Together we will work on the following topics so that you can pass the A1 level exam:

    Basis of German grammar
    As with any language, grammar is an important basis for understanding and using German correctly. You will need German grammar for all tasks and use cases on the A1 exam.

    Being able to hold easy conversations in everyday life
    Together we learn to introduce ourselves and other people and to ask and answer appropriate questions. This can be, for example Giving information about where you live or describing other people you know.

    Acquisition of basic vocabulary
    You will learn the most important basic vocabulary at level A1 in the following areas: private environment, professional environment, education and public places

    Be able to read simple sentences and understand uncomplicated dialogs
    The aim of this subject area is for you to be able to read, understand and use everyday expressions and simple sentences. This could be advertisements, brochures, menus or timetables, for example. In the A1 exam, for example, you will receive an invitation and be able to rate a statement as "correct" or "incorrect".

    We also learn how to communicate in a simple way in everyday conversations with other people and how to understand simple dialogs. These conversations are practiced in written texts and as spoken conversations. This also includes understanding and using dates, days of the week and times.

    Writing text messages and emails in German
    For your everyday life, we will teach you how to write German text messages and emails correctly for various purposes. We'll teach you how to express interest, wishes, requests and suggestions, for example, and how to understand them correctly.

  • Which topics are included in the German exam for level A1?

    The A1 German language test assesses learners' basic knowledge of German. In order to reach level A1, language schools such as Germancube.ch offer practice-oriented preparation courses for newcomers to German with no prior knowledge.

    You will be asked to complete the following sections on the A1 exam:

    • Basic knowledge of German grammar

  • How does the A1 German TELC exam work?

    The TELC Deutsch A1 test consists of a written and an oral part. The written test includes the application areas "Listening" (20 min.) and "Reading and Writing" (45 min.). This is followed by the oral exam (15 min.), where you can demonstrate your basic German skills in practical application together with three other participants.

  • How does the A1 German GOETHE exam work?

    Like the TELC A1 German test, the GOETHE German A1 test consists of a written and an oral section. The written test includes the parts "Listening" (20 min.), "Reading" (25 min.) and "Writing" (20 min.).

    This is followed by the oral exam (15 minutes), in which you introduce yourself to the group and answer questions from everyday life and ask questions in the group.
