Zwei Expats lernen Deutsch

Does this sound familiar?

  • You want to be understood in German without embarrassing yourself (and without people suddenly switching back to English).
  • You are sitting in meetings or conversations with colleagues and only understand half of what is being said: Connection is difficult.
  • Forms, emails or official letters are a mystery: you get distracted, make mistakes or don't dare to sign something.
  • Small talk and social contacts in everyday life are a challenge: you want to have a say, but the right words are missing.
  • Exams or language tests cause stress: you know you have the knowledge, but have difficulty applying or practicing it.
  • You want to get off to a flying start in your career, but a lack of language confidence inhibits presentations, negotiations or projects (or for tests that are required).
  • You feel insecure when speaking German, even in familiar surroundings and finally want security, trust and connection.

Level A1 is the easiest and first level for newcomers to German with no previous knowledge and provides an important basis for anyone who wants to learn German.

Together we will work on the following topics so that you can pass the A1 level exam:

The Basics of German Grammar: As with any language, grammar forms the essential foundation for understanding and correctly using German. You will need to know German grammar for all tasks and scenarios on the A1 exam.

Being able to carry on simple conversations in everyday life: Together, we’ll learn how to introduce ourselves and others, as well as how to ask and answer appropriate questions. This might include, for example, sharing information about where you live or describing people you know.

Acquiring basic vocabulary: In our A1 course, you’ll learn the most important basic vocabulary related to your personal life, work, education, and public places.

Being able to read simple sentences and understand straightforward dialogues: The goal of this section is to help you read, understand, and use everyday expressions and simple sentences. These might include advertisements, brochures, menus, or timetables. In the A1 exam, for example, you will be given an invitation and asked to determine whether a statement about it is “true” or “false.”

We’ll also learn how to communicate easily with others in everyday conversations and understand simple dialogues. These conversations will be practiced both in written texts and as spoken dialogues. This includes, among other things, understanding and using dates, days of the week, and times.

Writing text messages and emails in German: To help you in your daily life, we’ll teach you how to write German text messages and emails correctly for various purposes. We’ll show you how to express and correctly understand things like interest, requests, instructions, and suggestions.

The A1 German language test assesses learners’ basic knowledge. To help students reach the A1 level, language schools such as Learningcube.ch offer practical preparation courses for beginners with no prior knowledge of German. The A1 exam will test your proficiency in the following areas:
    • Basic knowledge of German grammar
    • Basic vocabulary needed to understand and engage in simple everyday conversations
    • Be able to read, understand and write simple texts
The TELC German A1 test consists of a written and an speaking section. The written exam covers the skill areas of “Listening” (20 min.) and “Reading and Writing” (45 min.). This is followed by the speaking exam (15 min.), during which you and three other participants will demonstrate your basic German language skills in a practical setting.

Like the TELC A1 German Test, the GOETHE German A1 Test consists of a written and an speaking section. The written exam includes the sections “Listening” (20 min.), “Reading” (25 min.), and “Writing” (20 min.).

This is followed by the speaking exam (15 min.), during which you will introduce yourself to the group, answer questions about everyday life, and ask questions of the group.

TELC: A European exam format with a strong focus on practical application in everyday life and the workplace; the exam can be taken in small groups—perfect for you if you want to learn German for everyday life, work, or social situations and put it to use right away.

Goethe: Classic German exam format, internationally recognized, with an emphasis on formal language proficiency; also offered as a group exam; often easier in the written sections—ideal for you if you need the exam for a visa, naturalization, or official documentation.

We offer both in-person and online courses. Online courses are very popular: learning from the comfort of home is ideal for continuing education, especially for students who live far away or have busy schedules. Advantages of online learning:
    • Significant time savings: No round-trip to the school
    • Spatial flexibility: You can learn from anywhere
    • Varied lessons through interactive exercises
